Deep Tissue Massage and why and when to have it?

Written by Glenn Comber

Today I will talk about Deep Tissue Massage and why and when to have it.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles. It is used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
This type of massage is best used when you are near the end of the week as the deep tissue massage can leave you rather sore as we get "as the name suggests" DEEP. Slow deliberate pressure is applied to the affected area in a number of methods including forearms, elbows and knuckles. Stretches are also applied while doing some of these Techniques. Sometimes these are called "Active stretches".
